Steven and Janelle started dating nearly a decade prior to their engagement. S is an architectural engineer and J is an interior designer – a match made in heaven if you ask me! They are one of the most loving and intentional couples I know. On any given night, you can catch them at their favorite lux, cocktail bar in downtown Pittsburgh, roaming the streets and admiring the architecture!
From the moment Janelle inquired with me, I felt this connection with her. Creativity was bursting from the seams as she told me about her wedding plans. Her vision revolved around the Edgeworth Club in Sewickley, PA. Its historic architecture would provide the back drop for her New Year wedding.
Janelle prepares for the long awaited day in the club’s lavish bridal suite. She requested that I photograph her grandmother’s hanky, her Thomas Jewelers wedding band and a few other thoughtful details. After hair and makeup is complete, Janelle is buttoned up by her seamstress.
Steven gets dressed with his nephew downstairs. Shortly after, S departs to one of the couple’s favorite spots in downtown Sewickley, where he will soon see his bride for the first time.
S + J share a drink together while their guests arrive at the club for cocktail hour. The two make their way back in Steven’s Rolls Royce and head straight into their intimate ceremony, adorned with paper mache installations, candle sticks and disco balls. Guests applaud as J walks down the aisle with her precious mother on her arm and her monochromatic 4121 Main florals in hand. It has been a long time coming!
Steven and Janelle share their first kiss as husband and wife, wasting no time as they welcome their guests into the reception where dinner is served along with late night coffee provided by Mean Bean Catering. Just before midnight, Janelle surprises her mother with a slideshow of nostalgic pictures, accompanied by Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark – an ode to J’s late father.
During the final moments of Steven and Janelle’s reception, the clock strikes twelve as everyone rings in the new year!!
